Project SuccessEastern Kentucky University offers a comprehensive support program for college students with learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder and other cognitive disorders. Upon admittance, Project SUCCESS develops an individualized program of services which serve to enhance the academic success of each student.

Project Success is exactly what its name implies- a pathway to academic success. Whether you are an incoming freshman or a transfer student, our goal for you is the same- to see you complete a two-or four-year degree. Project Success is a comprehensive program for students with learning disabilities. At the core of our program is individualized tutoring services. Our program is selective and has limited enrollment.

What is offered?

  • Individualized Tutoring
    At the heart of Project Success are one-on-one tutoring services.Our tutors are upper level undergraduate and graduate students who receive specialized training to work with you. When you are accepted into the program you agree to meet with your tutor(s) at least twice a week.
  • Academic Coaching
    Academic Coaching is a designed alliance between a coach and a student for the purpose of fostering success skills in an educational environment. It is an individual process that facilitates goal clarification and achievement. The process focuses upon helping the student to develop and implement strategies, problem solving and building self-advocacy skills. Coaches motivate students to achieve, become cheerleaders when necessary, provide a needed accountability factor, provide structure, support and feedback, and facilitate overall student success.
  • Focus Groups
    You also commit to attending focus groups that cover a variety of relevant topics. Focus group topics include transitioning to campus life, time management, learning strategies, active test taking and much more!
  • Disability Services
    Note taking services, books on CD and tape with equipment loan, training and use of assistive technology, and test accommodations.

What is the cost?

The Project SUCCESS Program is a fee based program. Most often, our student's participation in project SUCCESS is funded by their counselor from the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR). Please contact your OVR or your high school counselor to obtain contact information.

Specifically available to students from select Application Regions of Kentucky is our Application Tutoring Grant. This grant is funded by the Kentucky Department of Education. The grant provides students from 51 Kentucky Appalachian counties with the opportunity to participation in project SUCCESS for FREE! Students are required to provide documentation of county of residence.
