Planning to Win Photos
Students attending the "Planning to Win" weekend participate in a wide range of activities. Some of the activities focus on group participation.
The students are taken on tour of Eastern's campus and during this this time, they have the opportunity to take pictures of points of interest on campus. They spend a morning at the challenge course where students build trust in one another and learn to work as a team.
This weekend also provides helpful information for students planning to attend a postsecondary school. Staff members from Eastern offer presentations throughout the weekend on topics such as admissions, advising, and student life.
The Planning to Win students also have a technology seminar in EKU's library. Staff from the Office of Services for Individuals with Disabilities conduct interactive workshops on self-discipline, self-advocacy and self-disclosure. Student workers are also involved throughout the weekend in providing valuable information about college life to these prospective students.
The students stay in the dorms in the evening. There are a variety of different activities, including movies, dinner, and student lounge activities for ping pong and other simple games.
Additional activities were a trip to Lake Reba, a public park in the area, where the students played miniature golf, corn hole, kick ball and some took advantage of the batting cages.
Good food is always a major draw to a weekend on campus. Meals were catered from restuarants in town as well as the catering service on campus.

One of the activities the students enjoyed the most was getting to swim at the campus pool.
They enjoyed making new friends and staying in the dorm. The students felt this weekend experience helped prepare them for what college life will be like.
Activities in the dorm took place from 9-midnight with pool, ping-pong, a poker table, movies and other games.
