Planning to Win Photos from 2008

students in the meeting roomStudents who attended the "Planning to Win" 2008 weekend participated in a wide range of activities. Some of the activities focus on group participation.

The students were taken on tour of Eastern's campus and during this time, they had the opportunity to take pictures of points of interest on campus. They spent a morning at the challenge course where students build trust in one another and learn to work as a team.

students meeting in the classroomThis weekend also provided helpful information for students planning to attend a postsecondary school. Staff members from Eastern offered presentations throughout the weekend on topics such as admissions, advising, and student life.

Staff from the Office of Services for Individuals with Disabilities conducted interactive workshops on self-discipline, self-advocacy and self-disclosure. Student workers were involved throughout the weekend in providing valuable information about college life to these prospective students.

Additional activities were a trip to Lake Reba, a public park in the area, where the students played miniature golf, corn hole, kick ball and some took advantage of the batting cages.

Good food is always a major draw to a weekend on campus. Meals were catered from restuarants in town as well as the catering service on campus.

One of the activities the students enjoyed most was swimming at the campus pool. They enjoyed making new friends and staying in the dorm. The students felt this weekend experience helped prepare them for what college life will be like.

Activities in the dorm took place from 9-midnight with pool, ping-pong, a poker table, movies and other games. Nick Butcher, EKU student talking to the group with Teresa Belluscio
